Mad Dog is Thoughtfully Preparing for NJ Girls Travel Program
Manasquan, NJ - Tommy Duerr, Executive Director of Mad Dog Lacrosse, is excited to announce the addition of a NJ Girls Travel Program nearly eight months ahead of tryouts. Over the past several years Mad Dog has been fielding nationally competitive boys and girls travel teams in California, while only fielding boys teams in New Jersey. That will all change in July and August of 2018 when Mad Dog holds its first ever tryouts for their NJ Girls Travel Program.
"Tryouts are a long way off, but we want to make sure we do this the right way. We are going to take the next eight months to build up our internal capacity to make sure we are ready provide an incredible experience for the top young girl's lacrosse players here on the NJ Shore," said Duerr. "We aren't rushing into this and will be spending the next eight months adding staff, while increasing our girls clinic offerings and marketing our July and August tryouts."
Mad Dog hasn't wasted any time in adding some of the top high school girl's coaches in New Jersey to their staff. Duerr has tabbed Evan Mager (Head Coach, Morristown HS) and Amy O'Keefe (Head Coach, Rumson Fair Haven), to direct the formation of our NJ Girl's Travel Program. Mager and O'Keefe bring years of travel team coaching and administrative experience to Mad Dog.
"Evan and Amy have a passion for education and coaching that makes them a perfect fit here at Mad Dog," said Duerr. "Their positive approach to coaching coupled with a serious approach to player development, and helping their student-athletes in the recruiting process is exactly what we were looking for."
Duerr sees the addition of a New Jersey girl's program as the finishing piece of the puzzle to the successful model he has mapped out within his boy's travel system which includes east coast and west coast teams, " Mad Dog is no stranger to girl's travel lacrosse. Our National Directors & CA coaches, Kitty Cullen & Sam Farrell, will work closely with Coaches Mager & O'Keefe to establish the same recruiting & competition synergies that exist between our NJ & CA boy's teams."
Coaches Mager and O'Keefe will be part of several new clinics being offered for youth and high school aged girls at the Mad Dog Sports Center.
